Does your medicine cabinet need its own ZIP code? Is your pill organizer beginning to resemble a seven-day buffet? Perhaps it's time for a medication checkup!
Deprescribing is the careful process of reviewing medications and, when appropriate, reducing or stopping those that may no longer be necessary or could be causing more harm than good (Wu et al., 2023).
Now, please don't start throwing away pill bottles! Many medications are essential, and some must be reduced gradually under medical supervision. The goal isn't fewer pills at any cost. It's the right medications, at the right doses, for the right reasons.
First Thessalonians 5:21 reminds us to “test everything; hold fast what is good.” That's good wisdom to apply to your medicine cabinet, too! Keep what benefits your health, reconsider what may no longer be necessary, and make those decisions with your healthcare provider.
At MedPeace, I will review your prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, and supplements to identify possible interactions, unnecessary medications, and opportunities to simplify your treatment safely.
