Healing Comes From the One Who Gives Life: Reflection on the National Physician Suicide Awareness Day

“I am the Lord that healeth thee.” ~Exodus 15:26 (KJV)

When health changes, it can affect far more than the body. A new diagnosis, persistent symptoms, fatigue, pain, or uncertainty can bring worry, frustration, and fear. In those moments, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by appointments, medications, test results, and all the questions that do not yet have answers.

As a healthcare provider, I believe medical care matters. Careful listening, appropriate evaluation, prevention, evidence-informed treatment, and practical lifestyle changes can all play an important role in supporting health. Yet I also believe that our lives are held by the One who created us. God is the giver of life, the source of wisdom, and a steady presence when life feels uncertain.

In Luke 17, Jesus healed ten men with leprosy. One returned to thank Him, and Jesus said, “Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole” (Luke 17:19, KJV). This passage reminds me that health is more than the absence of symptoms. God’s healing reaches the whole person — body, mind, heart, and spirit—and gratitude helps us recognize His presence, even in difficult seasons.

Healing does not always look the way we expect. Sometimes it comes through renewed strength or improvement in symptoms. At other times, it comes through clarity, peace, supportive relationships, or the courage to take one manageable step at a time. Whatever the journey may hold, we do not have to walk it alone.

At MedPeace, I seek to care for the whole person. This means listening carefully and considering physical health, emotional well-being, daily habits, personal circumstances, and the values that shape each patient’s life. My hope is that every patient feels heard, respected, informed, and supported while working toward better health.

If you are carrying a health concern today, take heart. Seek appropriate care, ask questions, and give yourself grace in the process. May you find comfort in knowing that healing, hope, and life ultimately come from the One who gave you life.

May the Lord grant you peace, strength, wisdom, and renewed hope for each day ahead.

A Prayer for Your Journey

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of life and for Your faithful presence in every season. Please bring comfort to those who are hurting, wisdom to those seeking answers, and strength to those facing difficult health concerns. Guide each person toward the care, support, and peace they need. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Faithfully yours,

Dr. Sammy Abdo, APRN
